Searching for an ATV rental in Tamarindo? Here's the honest answer: we don't rent ATVs to ride unguided. It's a deliberate safety choice, and for most visitors it turns out to be the better ride anyway.
Not with us. We only offer guided ATV tours, not self-drive rentals. It's our own safety decision, not a legal rule: the routes cross real roads, river beds, and beach terrain that shift with the tides and weather. A guide keeps first-timers safe and takes you to beaches you couldn't find alone.
This isn't a legal requirement. It's how we choose to run, because it makes for a safer and better day. Three reasons:
You ride actual back roads, river crossings, and beaches, and conditions change with the tide and rain. A guide reads them so you don’t have to.
Most guests have never driven an ATV. You get a lesson and a practice loop, and your guide sets a pace you’re comfortable with.
Hidden beaches and lookouts along the Guanacaste coast, on routes you wouldn’t find on a self-rental map.
Everything you’d want from a rental, plus the parts that keep it safe:
Guided ATV and UTV tours last 2 hours, with prices per vehicle. See every option and current price on the home page.
Other operators may offer it, but we don't. We've chosen to run guided tours only, for safety. If you want to reach the coast's hidden beaches without the risk of going it alone on unfamiliar terrain, a guided tour is how we do it.
To drive your own ATV you need a valid driver's license and to be 16 or older. No experience needed: you get a lesson and a practice loop first. Under 16 or without a license, you can ride as a passenger on an adult's ATV.
You still drive your own ATV and get the same freedom on the trail. The difference is a guide leads the route, handles the tricky crossings, and takes you to beaches you would never find on a self-rental.
